Study Population

Inclusion Criteria

• Mild-to-moderate hypertension (seated diastolic blood pressure (DBP) of 95–109 mmHg
• 24-hour mean ambulatory DBP ≥ 85 mmHg

Exclusion Criteria

• Pre-menopausal women not using contraceptives
• Night-shift workers
• Systolic blood pressure (SBP)/DBP >180/>110 mmHg
• Known or suspected secondary hypertension
• Hepatic and/or renal dysfunction
• Congestive heart failure
• Active coronary artery disease
