Outcomes
What were the main findings from the study?
- MICARDIS® and valsartan both reduced the 24-hour urinary protein excretion rate (UPER) by one third of baseline levels at 1 year.7
- The greatest improvements in 24-hour UPER were seen in patients who achieved the best blood pressure control; highlighting the dual need for effective antidiabetic and antihypertensive control.7
- MICARDIS® is an effective treatment for patients with overt diabetic nephropathy and provides comparable protection against proteinuria to other angiotensin II receptor blockers such as valsartan.7
