What were the main findings from the study?

  • There were no significant differences between MICARDIS® and enalapril in GFRs at 5 years or in the change in GFR over 5 years.6
  • With both treatments, the steepest decline in GFR was seen in the first year. Thereafter, the rate of decline was markedly reduced and consistent until the study end.6
  • Although there was a nonsignificant trend for lower SBP and DBP values at 5 years in patients treated with MICARDIS® than in those given enalapril, similar improvements in blood pressure were achieved overall.6
