What is MICARDIS®?
MICARDIS® is approved for the treatment of essential hypertension. MICARDIS® is a powerful angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that offers, consistent, 24-hour, blood pressure control, 4–6 even in the early morning hours when the risk of cardiovascular events is at its highest.7–9
MICARDIS® & MICARDISPLUS® in Hypertension
MICARDIS® provides superior blood pressure reduction compared to the ARBs valsartan and losartan5,6,10 and has been shown to achieve blood pressure targets at least as effectively as other antihypertensive classes, including the ACE inhibitors enalapril, 11 ramipril12–13 and lisinopril,14 the calcium channel blocker amlodipine4 or the beta-blocker atenolol.15 Importantly, MICARDIS® has been shown to have placebo-like tolerability.16, 17

MICARDIS® has proven cardiovascular protective benefits in a broad CV high-risk population.18 Data also suggest that MICARDIS® may have additional cardioprotective properties, including a proven ability to reduce left ventricular hypertrophy19,20 and to reduce the new onset of LVH.21
