Efficacy of MICARDIS®
MICARDIS® provides protection against the early morning surge in blood pressure and enduring, powerful 24-hour blood pressure control.
Early-morning blood pressure protection
During the early-morning hours, from 6 am to midday, it is well known that blood pressure rises if not adequately controlled and that the risk of cardiovascular events is at its highest.1-3
Meta-analysis of five multicentre trials using ambulatory blood pressure monitoring to compare the antihypertensive efficacy of MICARDIS®, losartan, valsartan and amlodipine showed that MICARDIS® was significantly superior to losartan and valsartan in the reduction of systolic and diastolic blood pressure during this risky, early-morning period.
MICARDIS® provided comparable blood pressure reduction to amlodipine during the morning period.4
MICARDIS® provides powerful, consistent 24-hour blood pressure control
Studies have shown that MICARDIS® was consistently more effective than ramipril for the reduction of mean diastolic blood pressure over 24 hours, as well as during the morning, daytime and evening periods. 5,6
MICARDIS® has also been proven to be more effective than ramipril at reducing blood pressure in the last 6 hours of the dosing interval. 5,6
In trials comparing MICARDIS® to losartan and valsartan, MICARDIS® was superior to both agents in lowering systolic and diastolic blood pressure during this period.7,8
