MICARDISPLUS® Key Trials
The efficacy and tolerability of the MICARDISPLUS® 80/12.5 and MICARDISPLUS® 80/25 fixed dose combinations for the treatment of essential hypertension have been extensively studied in clinical trials that included uncontrolled hypertension in populations considered difficult to manage (including older patients, patients of African origin, those with vascular disease, those with high-risk diabetes).
In addition to placebo-controlled trials, MICARDISPLUS® 80/12.5 and MICARDISPLUS® 80/25 have been directly compared to active comparators in fixed dose combinations with hydrochlorothiazide, such as the ACE inhibitors enalapril1and lisinopril2 , the ARBs losartan3, olmesartan4 and valsartan5,6, and the calcium channel blocker amlodipine7. The results of these trials have established that MICARDISPLUS® 80/12.5 and MICARDISPLUS® 80/25 achieve class-leading blood pressure control in difficult to manage hypertension.
A list of these important trials is provided below, but more information can be found in the Clinical Research section of this website.
- SMOOTH – Study of MICARDIS® On Obese/Overweight Type-2 diabetics with Hypertension.5
- ATHOS – A comparison of Telmisartan plus hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) with amlodipine plus HCTZ in Older patients with predominantly Systolic hypertension.7
- ARBs-FDC – Blood pressure control with ARBs in Fixed Dose Combinations: telmisartan versus losartan.3
